While we can’t positively confirm the legitimacy of this page, the timing corresponds not only with the news that new MacBook Pros are to be released within the next week, but also with whispers Mac Soda has independently received that a new version of Final Cut Studio is slated to arrive this year. This page claims we’ll receive news about new Hardware and Software offerings from Apple at an event Wednesday, so it makes sense that we’d hear about Final Cut Studio and MacBook Pros, as NAB is a very professional event aimed at the production crowd.
UPDATE: The Page has been taken down, but the hotel has confirmed to 9to5mac that an Apple event is in fact booked from 8-12 on Wednesday. Whether it’s an official Apple event or an Apple related event put on by someone else remains uncertain.
UPDATE 2: Mac Soda has been told by the company responsible for the event, Integrated Media Technologies, to immediately pull the story because it has no affiliation with Apple and there will not be any announcements by Apple. Maybe it’s just me, but if I didn’t want people to think it was an Apple event, I wouldn’t write “Please join Apple for an update on their latest hardware and software products.” on the invitation

well…that would be great…let’s hope
Yeah, let´s hope. This seams to be legit. But could we see a rewritten FCP at this small event? I just think apple will update QuickTime so it will take RED files right off. Then FCP just needs a small update to work with the files.
It´s probably just a minor FCP update that gives us some Snowleopard support and R3D.
Ohh, Apple please give us a PRO editing app.

And some more of this.
Considering that apple Blocked Adobe’s Flash-to-iPhone Compiler, i believe that it is an open war with adobe. CS5 is about to be released so i wait for a MAJOR fcs update. What do you think?
By the way Mike you are Greek right? You also live in Greece? Im asking because i live in Thessaloniki and apparently im Greek.
Is it true?
WOW…..what could I say…just looked adobe cs5……………apple better do something fast with fcs…cs5 looks…. well see for yourself…..and I tell you..if nutting happens fast with fcs……Im going to adobe CS5……..PS…I think apple is to way behind to come up to CS5……to much ipod..iphone..ipad…ishit.and i..f…k you pro guys to care!
Apple store is down.
….there’s a BIG reason why 40 employes were fired for final cut studio ……think about it….cs5 64bit fast fast fast……fcp.32bit..slow slow slow………still I love fcp….apple don’t let us DOWN!!
I wrote to Steve@apple.com about the layoffs in FCP group. he said the people who left were in support, not engineers. He also promised the next version would be “Amazing”
He gave no more specifics – of course. To be fair, he things everything is “Amazing”
I work at a university. I’m the media production manager.
We have small team. It’s just me, my assistant and a handful of part time assistants.
We use Mac platform (me) and Wintel (assistant).
I have both FCP studio and CS5.
I’ve been using Final Cut since it’s debut, and have loved it.
Back then Premiere was available for Windows and Apple OS.
Final Cut was much better, so I pretty much didn’t care when Adobe dropped Apple OS support.
CS4 brought me back to Premiere to check it out with the new MacTel machines. I’ve been using a mix of CS4 software and FCS.
But, for the past 10 months I’ve used Premiere almost exclusively for editing.
I’ve been waiting, waiting, waiting, for Apple to get their act together and release both the hardware and software to launch us into the 2nd decade of the mellenium, but NO.
Apple…WAKE UP!
They’ve become a boutique company of lifestyle products, which I’m sure is great for their investors bottom line. But, it sucks out here for the professionals who have supported Apple for many many years. I’m tired of Apple constantly releasing new iPods, iMacs, iPads, etc… When is Apple going to return to be the top platform for media production professionals? It’s disconcerting and amazing that they’ve let this come to pass.
We have funds to upgrade our Window and Mac production machines and software. For the Wintel machine it’s a blazing 6 core i7 with 12gigs of ram, Geforce 3800 video card, blu ray burner, and CS5 with 64 bit processing, Mercury render engine, and Cuda support. What did my brand spanking new Mac have to offer?
A 4 core XEON, 8gigs of ram, basic ATI video card, NO blu ray burner, and an aging FCS software.
My Mac system cost MORE than the Windows machine, and then I had to add a GTX285 to take advantage of CS5, and MORE money for blu ray burner.
My new Mac already feels like a nearly 2 year old machine, and FCS is that old. I want to, and still am supporting Apple by insisting that we have both platforms in our studio. But damn Apple gives us no ammunition with which to go to the money Directors to convince them as to why we still should support Apple.
There have been rumors and rumors, and are still only rumors, that the Mac Pro will get a 6 core XEON processor. I waited as long as I could, but the money needed to get spent or go elsewhere.
Yes, I am pissed, cause I’ll bet a new 6 core XEON machine will be available by August. So, at that time, my NEW 2 month old Mac Pro will be old tech. As it stands, my new Mac Pro isn’t as powerful as our new i7 6 core machine.
I’ll load FCS of course, but what’s really new or improved with it to entice me to use it exclusively or even mostly for our productions?
Nothing. The new processor is all I have, and it’ll help speed things up, but for FCS, it will be nothing like the next gen CS5 software taking advantage of compliant video cards.
I am installing the GTX285 card strictly for use with CS5, as it can’t do much with FCS. Thanks for nothing Apple.
Gee, I just can’t wait for the new iPad that was released already not ready for next gen use, as it only uses iPhone OS. Apple couldn’t even be bothered with installing a light version of OSX in the new iPad. Already the marketing machine is rolling with enticement of the “next” iPad that will do what the first iPad should already be capable of doing. It’s such a silly product, nothing more than an overgrown iTouch/iPhone. Thousands of apps?!
I could care less that can have several apps to tell me how to make a rum and coke. How about a small number of apps bundled into a new FCS suite that allows creative professionals to actually create media? You know, those same people who have kept Apple a viable company with enough extra revenue, apparently, to allow development of all these nifty lifestyle products. Take some of that money now, and apply it towards returning Apple computers and software to where it once was, to where it should be, and into the coming decades of the 21st century.
WOW…you took the words right out of my mouth……someone e-mail this to steve jobs……maybe he will say that”s amazing!
