Psystar Wins One Round
February 9, 2009
In yet even more boring news, Psystar finally caught a mini-break in their case against Apple, which begs the question from all Apple-watchers… who cares? Where are the Mac Minis/iMacs? When are we gonna get new Apple TVs? Any news on iPhone 3.0? What’s up with Snow Leopard? Seriously… can we at least get a fake rumor to talk about? The Apple scene has been dead since Steve announced he wasn’t gonna do Macworld this year.
While I’m on the topic of Psystar, the question should be asked…
I’d rather have Mac OS X run on any PC. It seems to me unfortunately that during Steve Jobs reign in Apple the company took a major shift, abandoned its professional legacy and has turned to a lifestyle company with better enclosure quality than Sony’s, by also developing a blase attitude “we don’t care what you say, we sell as much and we can do whatever you like”, much like the behaviour of Jobs before the big crisis at Apple (which leaves me wishing for a second one so they can learn better). Instead of changing its proprietary nature it gets worse and worse (Appstore, iTunes Store and iPod Sync). The iPod business and the iPhone business seems to be more important to the Apple executives than the works of the Mac, (see also removing the name Computers from the brand) which leaves me wondering if my next computer should also be a Mac. Owner of MBP 17″ that the logic board failed and I had to pay 900 euro to repair it seems to me that Apple is dropping the quality incrementally, not to mention the tragic quality of it’s monitors on MBP and iMac 20″, along with removing non-glossy options from most of the Mac line including the desk monitors. It is saddening indeed and I hope the situation changes radically before I face a dilemma in 5 years time.
