I Hate the iPhone
January 8, 2009

I’m having an ridiculously bad iPhone day, and need to rant somewhere. What better place than my blog?
I hate the iPhone. I hate how you can’t make a phone call without it dropping every two seconds. I hate how ridiculously cheap and flimsy the design is. I hate how it takes forever to boot up. I hate how Safari crashes every time you dare play any music. I hate how the screen gets smudgy. I hate how I can’t shoot a video on it. I hate how the ducking keyboard changes words you don’t want it to change. I hate how the home button takes up so much room on the screen. I hate how the battery can’t even last you through a day. I hate how the App Store is full of so many crap apps. I hate how badly they rip you off on text messages. I hate how it teases you with GPS, and can’t even do live Turn by Turn. I hate how terrible the camera is. I hate how the apps are touted so much, but using them for 5 minutes slams your battery life. I hate how you can’t get Push email unless you shell out 99 a year to Apple, or go to Microsoft or the ailing Yahoo. I hate how the vibrate switch flicks off in your pocket accidentally every time you put it in your pocket, causing it to ring right when you don’t want it to. I hate AT&T. I hate how Safari could be fast, but the slow-as-molasses processor won’t let it. I hate how there’s no flash. I hate how they sell the iPhone in Greece, and don’t even have a Greek keyboard. I hate how I can’t text a picture. I hate how the UI is even starting to bore me. I hate how Apple has the best OS search in the world, and can’t won’t put it on the iPhone. I hate how I can’t tether it, even if I’m willing to shell out 30 a month. I hate how there’s no voice dialing. I hate how it has bluetooth, but can’t use it for anything but pairing with a headset or car.
But I can live without Copy and Paste.
Hahaha… ouch. While its definately edgy, you’re right on a lot of things. Its about time one of the blogs takes a stand against over-promoting Apple products!
I hate how boring the UI is
I hate how the internet could be fast, but the slow-as-molasses processor won’t let it.
I was with you, but these two make no sense.
Nice list. (You can turn off the autocorrection.) I hate some appstore icons! (Apple, please reject apps based on their terrible icons). Sometimes the iPhone can be really frustrating, I hate to admit it though.
Ha ha, very sharp. Can’t say I’ve missed cut-and-paste too much either, though my list of annoyances is growing here (I’ve had my iPhone-3G a couple of weeks):

Gee, you must be a real treat to be around. Hate this , hate that, hate, hate, hate. Okay I realize you are trying to make a point, but rather than slect that word and use it so many times that starts to reveal something about you, why not use your forum to identify what you dislike and what you think are the short comings and present then in a positive manner. Its similar to all the e-mail I used to get copied on by people that continued to spout off about how the country is going to heck (I’ll be polite) because of the president elect. I finally sne back one to this person and everyone on the copied list that instead of whining and crying and forcasting doom, be part of the solution, and that when they have something positive to say they could again include me in their e-mails. I not heard from any of them since. Same here, if you are not pleased with something about Apple, the iPhone, etc., lay down what you see as the issue and present your solution. I will bet that someone at Apple looks at your site and all of the others to see what is being said about Apple and its products. You too can be part of the solution. Besides remember what your mom told you, nobody likes a whiner. And with that I am sure I am gong to get slammed, but I have said my piece. Get with the program and find the upside and present solutions and options. You might be surprised by the results.
I agree with alot of those
However, consumer electronics will never be 100% awesome, because they need to save some stuff for farther iteriations
Also, tethering, UI, and icon look and a different carrier can be achieved through jailbreaking if you really want them that bad
I hate how the entire phone grinds to a halt while getting email. I hate how I have to carry a Nano and an iPhone if I want to use my iPod + Nike. Plus I hate all the things that you hate about it.

A couple things…
First of all, I had so many problems with my phone yesterday that I was ready to throw it away. The new Palm Pre made me even more upset. I’ve gotten to the point where I’m really sick of Apple not addressing complaints. I’ve noticed lately that negative publicity is the only thing that gets them to notice.
Second of all, this is part of a three part series of articles. Today’s is called “I Love the iPhone” and tomorrows is called “How to Fix the iPhone”. Stay tuned.
Recently heard that a student from Canada has made possible and increased the iPhone battery life by 12 times. Check dis out: http://www.weekwill.com/a-student-increases-iphone-battery-life/
