Anonymity in this case means they don’t reveal his identity. Just like anonymous tips to crimewatchers, they can take your information so they can give you a reward if your tip leads to the arrest, but you are “anonymous” and not required to testify.

The fact that they claim it’s the same source doesn’t at all mean that it isn’t anonymous. If the source references some information that only the person who submitted the original tip would know, it wouldn’t be so hard to know that it is probably the same person.

That said, it looks and sounds fake to me. I don’t see what niche that thing would fill, what capabilities it would have to set it apart, other than being much bigger than a shuffle and having a screen. In other words, much like every other low-end mp3 player. I think Apple would really prefer to up-sell to the Nano than come up with a better low end. Who knows?
