Order iPhone 3G Online?
August 9, 2008
As I have posted many, many, many times before, I have been having some serious issues with iPhone 2.0. It has gotten to the point where I am forced to do a daily restore, of 8 pages of apps, and 16 GB of Music and Videos, which takes 4-5 hours at the least to complete. I finally called Apple, and there are sending me a brand new iPhone 3G to replace it. The way they are completing the transaction is that they are charging my credit card 299 for the phone, and will remove the charge as soon as I send the phone back. I obviously am sending the phone back and keeping the new one: but it got me thinking. Someone a little more mischievous could create a story about their phone, have a new one sent to their house, never return the one they said was broken, and sell it to a friend, or on eBay for 1400 dollars, making a 1,100 dollar profit. Again, this is something I absolutely do not condone and would never do in my life, but could a person with a weaker moral compass do this and get away with it? If Apple’s only response was to charge 299 to the credit card and not remove the charge, you have just successfully placed an online order, with overnight shipping (free), for a product that has worldwide shortages around the country, at the same price as the people who wait overnight in lines pay to get it.

I Want This: But I’m Not Rockefeller
August 8, 2008
Look at this. I have never seen an application that I’ve wanted more than this since the app store launched. Basically it allows you to use the phone as a multi-touch aid for Logic and ProTools. I would have got this in a second: I can’t tell you how many times I have wanted multi-touch displays for sound mixing in Logic and Soundtrack Pro… and this would fit the need perfectly! Except… it costs 150 dollars. The lite version costs 40 dollars! Most lite versions are free! Unfortunately, this means that it won’t be on my phone anytime soon.
Here’s hoping a free knockoff comes sometime soon!
The Easiest $5,600 Ever Made
August 8, 2008
Check this out. The LA Times Reports that 8 people actually bought “I Am Rich”. This means that Armin Heinrich, the developer respected by some, but hated by everyone else, made 5,600 dollars off this application. All I can say is congratulations Armin for making enough money to buy a MacBook Pro, MacBook, MacBook Air, and iMac. You came up with a scam a great idea, and are reaping the benefits. But for the 8 people who bought the app: I have no words to explain my feelings. With all that money, you could have given 800 African children an education. What a selfish, stupid, arrogant “investment”. Congratulations on being rich. If you really were rich, you’d use your money for good. Like Bill Gates (sorry fellow Apple fans: but Steve Jobs isn’t a philanthropist!).
I Figured It Out (Update: No)
August 7, 2008
I have been having this huge problem, in which my phone will freeze on the Apple logo on a daily basis, rendering it useless. I have to restore and reinstall all my apps (6 pages), taking 4-7 hours away from my phone, since it lacks FireWire Support. I have not been able to figure out what would cause this: until now. I now know that it is caused when an application is installing, and the phone is restarted. Try it on your phone if you dare and have a few hours: install an app or an update, and then restart your phone. You’ll get the Apple screen of death, as I like to call it. Furthermore, apps are much more prone to restarting the phone when a different app is installing. It is a serious issue that can be fixed with a solution found in the App Store’s origin: Installer. When installing apps in Installer, you were not allowed to leave the application until everything was installed/updated. When I first realized that the App Store let you leave the app, I was thrilled. Little did I know, and apparently, little did Apple know as well. If the App Store simply wouldt let you leave the app until all updates were installed, apps wouldn’t crash because you wouldn’t be allowed to open them! This may cause you a loss of 2-10 minutes of your phone in the day, but its certainly better than 7 hours!
Hopefully they accept the feedback I submitted and fix this huge issue. It is necessary in my eyes until iPhone 4G has a better processor.
Here’s hoping for 2.1… 2.0.1 didn’t cut it.
UPDATE: I installed a couple of new apps on my phone today, and didn’t do anything while they were installing, and put the phone in my pocket. I took the phone out of my pocket again, and the Apple Screen of Death appeared before me. I called Apple, and they are sending me a brand new iPhone to replace it. Hopefully that helps the issue.
The Apocalypse is Coming
August 6, 2008
See here. Apple is finally updating their Cinema Displays, the first update since July 2004, at MacWorld 2009. This comes from arguably the most reliable source of them all, Macrumors. Apparently the new displays will become LED, and the reason that they haven’t seen an update for so long is how expensive LED is. Personally, I couldn’t care less about LED. While its nice, I’d rather have them not add LED and cut the price in half. Or add multi-touch. If I could select what I wanted on my new 30 inch display (which I’m in the market for), I’d have two possible configurations…
1. 30 inch, razor thin display, iSight Camera, 999.
2. 30 inch, razor thin display, iSight Camera, Multi-Touch, with a new ergonomic touch design, 1799.
Any Thoughts? What do you want to see in the new Apple Displays.
I Am Moronic (Updated)
August 6, 2008
See Here. Some smart developer came up with the idea to create a pointless app worth 1,000 dollars and hope he gets a download. With the millions of iPhones available, I’m positive someone will be stupid enough to purchase it, giving the developer an easy 700 bucks. Well played Armin Heinrich. Well played.
UPDATE: Apple removed it from the App Store. Well played Steve. Well played.

The Magic of Final Cut Pro
August 3, 2008
As I have stated before, I specialize in film editing, and create movies on about a monthly basis. They may be short films I make for fun, promotional videos for organizations, slideshows, or even some feature length films. Final Cut Pro has made this all possible, and without it, I’m sure I wouldn’t be making films like I do today. I have decided to post some of my films on Mac Soda, to show the world just what Final Cut Pro can do.
This video I made for the YMCA’s big annual fundraiser. The world premiere will be August 2nd at the event. Mac Soda will be giving you a sneak peak! So without further ado, I give you: Our YMCA.
Ahh!!!!! (Ya!!!!)(Ugh)(Ya!!!)(Haha!)(Grrrr!)
August 1, 2008

No! Last night I was finishing up editing a promotional video I made for the YMCA (I’ll post it later), and took a break from the Apple world from about 6 PM-10 PM. I couldn’t have taken a break at a worse time. An application called NetShare was released which addressed an issue that I wanted addressed more than anything: 3G tethering. Unfortunately, the app was pulled right before the time when I checked MacRumors.
Let’s pray that Apple allows it back on.
UPDATE: The Lord answered my prayer. I downloaded the app and it is up and running! Yes!
UPDATE 2: Well NetShare busted my entire phone, and forced me to restore, only to bring to my attention that my sole backup (because it takes so long) was corrupted. I now have to reinstall all my applications, restore my preferences, re-sync my 16 GB of Music and Movies.
Forget Apple allowing it back on, let’s pray Apple release 2.1 sometime soon!
UPDATE 3: I fixed it. Thank God!
UPDATE 4: The game continues! NetShare has once again been removed from the App Store! I’m sure glad I bought it, even if it meant losing all my application data!
UPDATE 5: iPhone was destroyed once again. I lost my app data for a second time upon syncing. I hate you 2.0.
