The Easiest $5,600 Ever Made
August 8, 2008
Check this out. The LA Times Reports that 8 people actually bought “I Am Rich”. This means that Armin Heinrich, the developer respected by some, but hated by everyone else, made 5,600 dollars off this application. All I can say is congratulations Armin for making enough money to buy a MacBook Pro, MacBook, MacBook Air, and iMac. You came up with a scam a great idea, and are reaping the benefits. But for the 8 people who bought the app: I have no words to explain my feelings. With all that money, you could have given 800 African children an education. What a selfish, stupid, arrogant “investment”. Congratulations on being rich. If you really were rich, you’d use your money for good. Like Bill Gates (sorry fellow Apple fans: but Steve Jobs isn’t a philanthropist!).
I agree with everything.
Ironically, the only way for the developer to make $5,600 was to have 8 stupid people who actually bought it.
So, in a way, his IS a great idea, but it requires people to do something not-very-smart.
Which is the whole spirit of capitalism, isn’t it?
1) people pay for this intead of paying to feed the poor.
2) people selling things at an outrageous price
3) people actually paying this price ONLY ONLY ONLY for status.
It’s a bit paradoxal (is this word right?), but it describes very well the essence of our world.
Seriously… its sad though. I have a feeling that a few of these were accidental purchases though… its seems silly to me.
